Home / Australia FAQs / Do US citizens need a visa to Australia?

Yes, US citizens need a visa to visit Australia, but it’s straightforward. US citizens need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) or eVisitor visa, which costs $20 AUD and is processed within minutes online. These allow stays up to 90 days for tourism. Simply apply through the official Australian government website or app before booking flights—it’s typically approved instantly. Read more about the costs of an Australia visa.

Download the official government Australian ETA app for free from the Apple Store (Apple) or Google Play store (Android).
