World’s Biggest Tennis Grand Slam

Attend the Australian Open 2027

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the tennis calendar and one of the most celebrated sporting events on earth. Held each January at Melbourne Park in the heart of Melbourne, Australia, the AO has grown far beyond a tennis tournament. It’s a three-week festival of world-class sport, live entertainment, food and culture that draws fans from more than 100 countries.

In 2027, the Australian Open returns to Melbourne Park from January 11 to 31, with Opening Week running January 11 to 16 and main draw play beginning Sunday, January 17. The men’s and women’s singles finals are scheduled for January 30 and 31, bringing the tournament to a spectacular close on the iconic Rod Laver Arena.

At About Australia, we design and book Australian Open travel packages for passionate tennis fans. We handle the flights, hotels, and every logistical detail so you arrive in Melbourne ready to soak up every extraordinary moment of the world’s most electric tennis event.

Visit Sydney Harbour during Sydney Marathon

“We were blown away by the 5 week trip to Australia and New Zealand that Ana Musgray at About Australia planned for us. We had 57 vouchers for trains, planes, overnight boat cruises, transfers (in top-of-the-line Town cars), car rentals and lodging at some of the most gorgeous properties I have ever seen. Everything went like clock work and there wasn’t one glitch in such a complicated trip. We were thrilled with all the attractions that she booked, and really the only thing we had to do was figure out where we were going to eat. I highly recommend About Australia, and can say they planned the trip of a lifetime. “

Sydney New Years

“I was thoroughly impressed with the service provided by Katie Rowe of About Australia. She guided me with suggestions as she heard about my interests when we first connected. We worked on details over a couple of months, and Katie worked hard to make sure that highlights I was focused on would be included in my trip. She made sure our hotel in Sydney had a view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks as we arrived in Sydney on New Year’s Eve in the early morning, and true enough, we could see the display from our room’s balcony. We flew all around Australia during our stay, and each transfer went on without a hitch. I felt safe and in the hands of professionals the entire two week trip. I highly recommend About Australia, and will use them again when we go to New Zealand!”

Sydney Harbour Views

“About Australia provided us a very well planned and executed vacation. All of our accommodations and transfers were simple and on-time. All drivers and hotel personnel were courteous, helpful and provided information which enhanced our experiences through the four cities (Brisbane, Melbourne, Cairns, Sidney) traveled. All accommodations were located in the heart of the cities as we requested. The excursions were fun, educational, entertaining and most importantly on-time. Ana, our vacation specialist, planned everything we asked for and used her experience to also plan the small details which we didn’t ask for, making our trip one of our best vacations ever. Thank you Ana & About Australia. 5 Stars given.”

the venue

Melbourne Park

Melbourne Park has been home to the Australian Open since 1988, when the tournament relocated from Kooyong to a purpose-built complex in the heart of the city. Today it is widely regarded as the premier tennis venue in the world, with a 40,000-capacity precinct located minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, on the banks of the Yarra River, adjacent to the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. With 39 courts across the site, three world-class stadiums each equipped with retractable roofs, and an entertainment precinct unlike anything else in tennis, Melbourne Park is a destination in itself.

01

Rod Laver Arena

The spiritual home of the Australian Open. Rod Laver Arena is the tournament’s main show court, hosting the biggest matches including both singles finals. With a capacity of approximately 15,000, a retractable roof, and a history that includes some of the most dramatic moments in tennis, this is one of the most iconic sporting venues on earth. It was the first tennis venue in the world to have a retractable roof installed.

02

John Cain Arena
Known “The People’s Court,” John Cain Arena seats 10,500 and is the second-largest venue at Melbourne Park. Featuring a retractable roof and an electric atmosphere, it is where Australian Open fans with grounds passes gather for thrilling matches on a daily basis.

03

Margaret Court Arena

The third of Melbourne Park’s three retractable-roof venues, Margaret Court Arena seats 7,500 and is famous for its innovative design inspired by the pleats of a traditional tennis skirt. Its roof is one of the fastest opening and closing in the world, ensuring uninterrupted play in all conditions.

04

John Cain Arena
The Australian Open is far more than a tennis tournament. The Melbourne Park precinct features live concerts, world-class food and beverage, interactive fan experiences, and a buzzing atmosphere from morning until late at night. At AO 2026, more than 1.3 million fans attended across the three-week event, making it the world’s biggest annual sporting and entertainment event held in January.

"We just finished four wonderful weeks in Australia and New Zealand and it could not have gone more smoothly. Roslyn did a superb job with every detail of our trip. She listened to what we were wanting on the trip and planned with those things in mind. We saw all the things we asked for, and also some things we didn't know that we needed to see. The transfers went smoothly and we loved all of her arrangements. The hotels were nice and exactly the kind of hotels we asked for. Planning a trip like this can be overwhelming, but she took the worry out of it and we were able to enjoy a beautiful vacation!"

Visit Sydney Harbour on combined Australian and New Zealand tours

“My son and I are very impressed with all aspects of our trip to Australia & New Zealand. From the Air NZ flights (Vancouver – Auckland – Brisbane & return) through the train rides, domestic flights within Australia, tours, airport/train station transfers and car rental; everything went very smoothly.  I highly recommend About Australia to anyone wishing to explore this part of the world.”

“Stephanie was amazing to work with. She really nailed it when we expressed to her that we wanted some off-the-beaten path experiences/stays with a focus on wildlife. We were perhaps a more complicated bunch, being that we added someone onto the trip at the last minute, but Stephanie made it work and everything went smoothly.”

Bethany
Twelve Apostles, Great Ocean Road

“About Australia made my trip of a lifetime come true, where nationally known travel companies could not meet my specific dates, cities, and activites. Their suggestions and hotel choices for each AU and NZ city enhanced the trip. They booked all the special tours and airport shuttles. This was definately a custom tour. 5 stars About Australia. Well done.”
