Are You Our Kind of Travel Pro? 🌏✈️

Do you light up when a client says ‘I’ve always dreamed of going to Australia’? Does navigating a GDS feel like second nature? Does the South Pacific feel less like a far-off destination and more like a place you already know by heart?

If you said yes to all three – we’ve been looking for you! 🙌

At About Australia, we’re a small, woman-owned team of travel-obsessed professionals who believe work should be energizing, fun, and  (whenever possible)  involve a fam trip. We’re growing fast, and we need an experienced South Pacific Travel Advisor who can hit the ground running and love every single minute of it.

We’re looking for someone with the skills of a seasoned travel pro AND the personality that makes clients feel like they’re planning their trip with a knowledgeable friend, one who just happens to know every great hotel between Sydney and the Daintree. That means you already know your GDS, you have real South Pacific knowledge (personal or professional — both count!), and you’re the kind of salesperson who closes deals because clients trust you, not because you pressured them.

Sound like you? Keep reading. 👇

The Opportunity

About Australia is a national travel wholesaler based in San Antonio, Texas, specializing in direct-to-consumer, tailor-made vacation packages to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, and the South Pacific. For over 20 years, we’ve partnered with leading destination organizations including Tourism Australia, Tourism New Zealand, and Tourism Fiji  and demand for South Pacific travel is growing fast.

We operate three main destination brands: About Australia, About New Zealand, and About Fiji.

Our Digital Marketing team is highly effective at generating warm, inbound leads from US-based travelers who are already dreaming about the South Pacific. Your job is to convert those leads –  walking clients through itinerary design, building tailored proposals, and closing the sale with expertise and authenticity.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

• Paid familiarization trips to the South Pacific,  opportunities to experience the very destinations you sell firsthand
• Performance bonuses that reward your results, top performers earn up to 22% above base salary in annual bonuses
• 100% remote with a collaborative, tight-knit team that actually has fun together
• Woman-owned and values-driven: you’re a valued team member, not just a revenue line
• Growth opportunity as South Pacific travel demand continues to rise
• Flexible PTO to support a healthy work-life balance
• Comprehensive medical and vision benefits after 90 days

About the Role

As a South Pacific Travel Advisor, you’ll be the expert voice our clients hear when they’re ready to plan the trip of a lifetime. You’ll tap into your South Pacific knowledge and travel sales experience to design itineraries that match their aspirations, timeline, and budget- and then close the deal with confidence.

• Design tailor-made vacation itineraries based on client needs, dreams, and budgets
• Work directly with clients and travel agents via phone, email, text, and instant messenger
• Pitch pre-designed and custom itineraries with expertise and enthusiasm
• Respond to inbound inquiries in an organized, timely, and systematic fashion
• Conduct vacation consultations by phone and email
• Use CRM (Zoho) to manage all client interactions and trip files
• Find flight availability and save PNRs in GDS (we use Amadeus) — this is a core, daily part of the role
• Prepare detailed client quotations and review and adjust budgets as needed
• Follow up on required documentation and booking deadlines
• Up-sell tours, experiences, and upgrades after the initial sale
• Set honest, accurate client expectations (we build trust, not hype)
• Ensure client details and expectations are clearly passed to the administrative team
• Conduct pre-departure itinerary reviews with clients
• Pay special attention to the logistics and personal touches that make a trip truly unforgettable
• Attend virtual (and occasional in-person) product training sessions for hotels, tours, and regions
• Take destination certifications to become a South Pacific Specialist for Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, and beyond

What We’re Looking For

The Must-Haves

• GDS proficiency is non-negotiable. You must have hands-on experience with Amadeus, Worldspan, Sabre, or Apollo. We use Amadeus — experience with another platform is fine, but you need to know how to work a GDS on Day 1.
• Deep knowledge of South Pacific destinations — through professional experience selling Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, or similar long-haul destinations, or through meaningful personal travel experience in the region. Either counts; vague familiarity does not.
• 2+ years of professional travel industry sales experience with proven, measurable results
• Experience building and selling tailor-made travel itineraries
• Experience with CRM systems (we use Zoho)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management and the ability to juggle multiple clients simultaneously
• Detail-oriented – the small things are what make or break a trip

The Person

• Sales-driven and genuinely energized by hitting and exceeding your goals
• A great communicator who builds real rapport with clients quickly
• Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ownership mentality to see every booking through
• Organized and process-minded –  you follow checklists and procedures AND speak up when something can be done better
• Honest, hard-working, flexible, and curious
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where no two days look exactly alike

Requirements

• US work authorization
• High School Diploma required; 4-Year College Degree preferred
• 2+ years of travel industry sales experience with proven results
• GDS experience required –  Amadeus, Worldspan, Sabre, or Apollo (we use Amadeus)
• Experience with CRM systems (we use Zoho CRM)
• Experience building and selling travel itineraries
• Deep personal or professional knowledge of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and/or South Pacific destinations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to provide references and pass a criminal background check
• Computer-savvy with the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously

Home Office Requirements

• Dedicated home office space with desk
• Reliable internet connection (minimum 10 Mbps download / 5 Mbps upload)
• Space for 2 large monitors and a comfortable chair
• Smartphone with capacity for 2 Authenticator Apps
